Honouring Service – Detroit’s Equine Portraits in Nottingham

Jul 16, 2025 | Uncategorized

Some photography sessions go beyond the moment – they become tributes.

This equine session with Detroit, held in Nottingham, was part of a wider series honouring individuals who serve in both our Armed Forces and Emergency Services.

It was a privilege to document a story built on loyalty, courage and connection. Detroit, a striking horse with a calm presence, shares a powerful bond with Elizabeth – a dedicated servicewoman.

From gentle interactions in the paddock to proud portraits in uniform, every image captured layers of strength and devotion. The photographs reflect not only the bond between horse and rider, but the quiet dignity of service carried every day.

One of the most moving moments was the stillness between them – a look, a lean, a breath shared. These images are more than portraits – they’re a record of trust built over time, and a reminder of the grounding comfort horses bring, especially to those who give so much of themselves in their roles.

While I’m based in Southwell, Nottinghamshire, I’m happy to travel up to four hours at no additional cost – ensuring the right setting for your session, wherever that may be.

Are you part of the Armed Forces or Emergency Services? If you’re looking to capture the bond between you and your horse, I’d be honoured to photograph your story.
