There’s something truly timeless about the bond between a horse and their person – and this session with Evie and her stunning black mare Milly, set in the rolling countryside of Leicestershire, was the perfect example.
As a professional dog and horse photographer based in Southwell, Nottinghamshire, I’m always honoured to capture these precious relationships in a relaxed and natural way.
From the stables to the meadows, this shoot celebrated not only the strong partnership between Evie and Milly but also included a few extra special guests – Evie’s partner and their two playful dogs.
Equine photography sessions aren’t just about standing still and posing – they’re a chance to create memories. Whether that’s sharing a quiet moment in the barn doorway, leading your horse through long grass, or enjoying a walk as a family – every moment has value.
One lovely element of this session was the thoughtful outfit change. Starting in riding wear and wellies before changing into a smart, elegant outfit, Evie beautifully marked the transition from everyday companionship to a truly special, portrait-worthy celebration of her bond with Milly.
It’s a wonderful reminder that these sessions are meant to be memorable – and dressing up for part of the shoot adds a touch of occasion to your gallery.
Everyone is welcome at my sessions – partners, children, and, of course, dogs.
These four-legged companions are part of the family, and they add a natural energy and warmth to the images.
Whether you keep your photos simple and candid or include more formal portraits, there’s no right or wrong – just your story, your way.
